Highlights of the Executive Meeting of the Penticton Pickleball Club (PPC)
held on Monday, July 8, 2019

- Mark Tamblyn reported the Council unanimously approved the recommendation to move
forward with the Robinson site plan. Mark will be meeting with Len Robson sometime
in August to discuss the timeline for constructing the new courts. The City budget is
submitted in September. - Insurance Update -The PPC has registered 212 members with Pickleball BC, 164 of
which are new members to Pickleball Canada. - The Board agreed there will be no cap on membership applications for the 2019 season.
- The Club continues to work with Paypal toward finding a means to install Paypal on the
PPC website. - A discussion on developing a strategic plan for upgrading and maintaining the website is
tabled for the next meeting. - Program Steering Committee – Pat Meyer (Chair) will send out a notice to the
membership for those who would like to participate on the Program Committee and he
will accept member comments and/or suggestions. The plan is to be ready for the AGM
in October. - The Rating Clinic on June 19th was a success. Recommendations for future clinics are:
- a rater should be booked as early as mid-April for the 2020 season
- advertising on bulletin board (courtside) and website
- invite local clubs (e.g. Summerland)
- confirm booking w/ Rec Dept and display reservation notice (courtside)
- Sheila Ducholke (Chair) reported on another social committee event planned for July 14th featuring the Hellard & Hirth Trio w/ Don Milne. Purchase tickets for $10.00 p.p. Contact Sheila me-no-cook@hotmail.com for further information.
- Kim Coleman reported there are no courts available for beginner lessons in the evenings. She will try to book a court for 7:30 pm on Thursday evenings.
- A Motion was passed for the Club to purchase 200 neon Dura Fast 40 pickleballs.
- Pat Meyer briefly discussed the use and benefits of the 4D Rating Program software for ranking players. Further discussion is tabled for the next meeting.
- An AED machine has been purchased for the Club and once available the membership will be contacted to determine who is interested in a course offered by Tim Mills on how to use the machine effectively.
- The possibility of running a “Mike Carter Memorial Tournament” in September was discussed however unless a member steps forward to organize this event, it will not happen. Discussion is tabled for the next meeting.
